In Her Own Words Artist Doll by Stephanie Novatski
In Her Own Words Artist Doll by Stephanie Novatski is a unique one of a kind hand made doll. She has beaded knee and elbow joints, ribbon jointed hips and shoulders, and articulated fingers. Her face is a unique sculpt not from a mold and is cloth over clay over cloth. Her hair is created from a reclaimed unraveled sweater ribbed collar and dyed to add highlights. The fabric for her arms and legs was “back dyed” tone on tone printed cotton to simulate the look of lace. Her dress is made from purchased printed cotton with the two bottom ruffles designed and printed by the artist. Her dress and bloomers are trimmed with Cluny lace as are her shoes. Her dress is further embellished with narrow lace edging, satin ribbon and Mother-of-Pearl buttons. The soles of her shoes are polymer clay, stamped with words and stained. She had a twill ribbon bow embellished with the alphabet in her hair.
I have been involved in needlework and sewing of all kinds since the age of five. I have actively been making dolls since 2004 and have recently expanded my interests into the world of Mixed Media. I love dollmaking because it offers the opportunity to use many of these skills in one project . I currently have a line of patterns available through DollMaker’s Journey and Designer Doll Patterns I am also available for classes. I live with my loving rescue dog, Diva and Husband Edward.
