Chesnik Shell Floret Brass Kaleidoscope by Jon Greene is handcrafted with two independently turning wheels in a stained glass technique. One wheel consists of a variety of shells, each one carefully culled from local Cape Cod beaches for its variety of color and pattern. The second wheel consists of textured dichroic glass, which is a type of glass coated with metals such as titanium and zirconium. The glass changes color when viewed from different angles. The two wheels are interchangeable front to back for a completely different image.
Jon Greene second generation artist creating Chesnik Scopes. His mother and stepfather, Janice and Ray Chesnik, founded the business in 1980. Jon joined them in 1990, and took over the business upon their retirement.
