Description

Part adorable, part dangerous, all attitude. Spikey Monster crouches with bright blue eyes gleaming and a mouthful of bone-beaded teeth ready to flash a crooked grin. Those pearl spike claws—on both hands and feet—aren’t just for show. This is the smallest of Terri’s monster gaggle, but what he lacks in size he makes up for in personality and those unforgettable weaponized extremities.

About the Piece

The third creation in Terri Rehg’s monochrome Gray Series, Spikey Monster showcases the artist’s evolution within this collection. His jointed body allows for endless repositioning, while those rolling glass marble eyes can be adjusted to create entirely new expressions—curious, mischievous, or downright menacing. The deep blue wool “fur” cascading down his chest and tail adds textural drama against the pale gray canvas body.

Materials & Construction

One-of-a-kind mixed media soft sculpture featuring hand-stitched gray canvas, fully jointed body, rolling glass marble eyeballs, bone-beaded teeth, pearl spike claws on hands and feet, deep blue wool detailing, and poly fill. Each stitch placed by hand in Terri’s California studio.

Dimensions

  • The smallest of the Gray Series gaggle (approximately 6-7″ tall when posed)

Display

Freestanding and poseable. Spikey’s jointed construction means you can adjust his stance and eye position to suit your mood or display space. Those dramatic claws and vibrant blue accents make him a standout piece that commands attention despite his compact size.

Please Note: This is collectible art, not a toy. Those pearl spike claws are sharp and could hurt—handle with care!

About the Artist

Terri Rehg is a California-based textile artist who creates whimsical characters, monsters, and dragons using mixed media. Drawing on her years in the toy industry and time working for Disney, she explores the open-ended realm of fantasy imagination through what she calls her “laboratory of quirky.” Her work combines soft sculpture, embroidery, and sculpting techniques to create creatures that blur the line between cute and unsettling. She formerly signed her work as “Sis” (pre-2022).
