Featured Art: “Jewels” is art jewelry created with toys!

Art Of Toys is happy to have such talented jewelry artists showing in the month of November in time for holiday gifts! Art Of Toys will feature local artist Lorrain Garcia, emiko oye’s of San Francisco Lego jewelry, Margaux Lange of NY Barbie assemblage jewelry, Lori Riley’s Kaleidoscope Jewelry, Lori Kirsh Assemblage Jewelry, and Oscar Ayotzintli Character Jewelry and more. This year Art Of Toys is introducing two new artists to this popular show William Skiles and Lisa Stotska of Got All Your Marbles that create jewelry using marbles! On 2nd Sat Artie Annette will be once again offering a FREE craft project from 5:00 til dark out in front of the gallery for all ages weather permitting.

emiko oye-Inspired by hardware, haute couture, and salvaged materials, San Francisco artist emiko oye creates one-of-a-kind urban jewelry and conceptual sculptures from recycled plastics and non-precious materials. Utilizing industrial scrap, discarded toys and LEGO®, her works strive to subtly transform the identity of everyday mundane objects to create new dialogues about our relationships with the environment and our culture. Active in the Bay Area art community, she is on the Board of Directors for the Metal Arts Guild, gives lectures on how to survive as an artist, and facilitates community recycled jewelry projects through her Accessorize with Toys workshops. Her work is shown in museums and galleries across the US and Europe and is in the Museum of Contemporary Craft’s Teaching Collection .

Oscar Ayotzintli – Influenced by artist such as Charles Schulz, John Romita and Jose Guadalupe Posada, Mexican born Oscar Ayotzintli move from Mexiko City to New York City to study fine art at the Art Students League of New York, where he earned a scholarship. he studied anatomy with Frank L. Porcu, welding, wax sculpting as well as storytelling with Jamal Igle (DC Comics). In 2003 he started to train and work with Rusty Pistachio of the hardcore-punk band h2o and founder of pnut jewelry. Art Of Toys has 4 of his original designs.
