Monsters are wonderful for the artist for there are no boundaries in creativity… anything goes! T. Oliver Kopian of Creatures Delight has been creating cute monsters for years but since Disney did the Monster. Inc. movies I hear oh that is just like “Monsters Inc.” in the gallery all the time and I want to dispute but let it go…they are “Original”!

Scourge by T Oliver Kopian

Look at the early movie monsters most are pretty scary with just their costumes and actions dialog was optional. The special effects might seem lame to a younger generation, but they were meant to scare you in your movie seat…hang onto that movie partner to make it to the end.

Movie Monsters

This month the gallery is featuring Dragons and Monsters, and I will say since we are a gallery that the art is a toy or uses toys so they tend to be on the cute side vs. scary. Everyone needs a monster to cuddle somewhere in their house… no matter how old. Even the paintings done by Jared Konopitski are more cute than scary!

Watering Hole of Happiness!

Dan Crowley did the best Zombie Woman that is more scary than cute and I want it so it has yet to make it to the show…don’t worry Dan it will…soon. I created my first official creation for the gallery which is a bit more scary than cute and hope that goes home with me as well.

What do you think is cute or scary for your monsters?
