Description
This whimsical dragon sculpture features hand-embroidered and appliquéd felt mounted on a wood plaque base. Hundreds of individual felt scales in vibrant greens create extraordinary dimensional texture, while carefully selected stone beads form his playful, toothy grin. Each scale is individually cut and stitched, creating a tactile surface that invites closer inspection. Clear coated for protection.

Terri Rehg has been creating toys since childhood, a passion that led her to study textiles at California State University Sacramento, UC Davis, American River College, and through numerous workshops including 4-H. The oldest of eight children in an artistic family, she signed her work as “Sis” while running Art Of Toys, a brick-and-mortar gallery, where she exhibited incognito until COVID forced its closure in 2022. Now working from Humboldt, California, Terri continues her lifelong exploration of textile arts at artoftoys.com, increasingly incorporating upcycled materials. Her 2025 studies at Haystack Mountain School of Arts in Maine deepened her mastery of traditional Rya weaving techniques, which she combines with soft sculpture to create whimsical yet sophisticated creatures.
