Description
Swimmer Flapper Bisque Frozen Doll with jointed arms from Japan. This darling doll has very detailed paintied details including eyelashes with blond molded hair. Blue headband with a pink flower , pink and blue black belted one piece swimsuit. Arms are jointed at shoulder with string attachment. Back has incised marking “MADE IN JAPAN” placing doll post 1930. Costume makes early 30s. This doll is 4.5″ tall.
All bisque dolls were primarily manufactured in France, Germany and Japan. German companies were the most prolific until World War I when German goods were no longer available. At this time Japan increased it’s production of dolls. Many were copies of the German dolls.made a number of original models..
