Description
Ban Dai Gundam Sandrock Custom Mobile Suit #17009 was produced 1995-2003 and distributed by Ban Dai. This is a 5” plastic figure complete in package with accessories made in China. Package is in good condition with a blemish where there was a price sticker on front and a slight crease that shows on back from top folding back. This was part of a series 17000.
There is a HUGE amount of info and backstory on this character that can be found at https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/SD_Archive
SD Archive (エスディーアーカイブ Esudī Ākaibu?) (also known as Superior Defender Gundam in North America) is a line of super deformed robot action figures by Bandai to coincide with the release of Superior Defender Gundam Force.
The line was revived years later by Bandai Asia as the SD Gundam Action Figure line to celebrate the release of SD Gundam Capsule Fighter Online. The revived line includes brand new releases, along with modified molds from the SD Archive and Superior Defender Gundam lines as well as other miscellaneous figures. The re-releases feature improved paintwork/detailing and new gimmicks. Currently this revived line is only available in Asian countries outside of Japan.
The XXXG-01SR2 Gundam Sandrock Custom (aka Sandrock Kai or Gundam Zero-Four) is the upgraded version of XXXG-01SR Gundam Sandrock in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and in New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. It is piloted by Quatre Raberba Winner.
I have always loved the design work of Ban Dai even without backstory this is a fun addition to any robot or action figure collection.
