Description
Tiny antique boy doll with jointed arms is a rare jewel of a doll from early 1850’s (appproximate guess) Germany. Markings on back 9887 in mold with no country of origina listed. Arms attached with wire joint and body is frozen. Painted details include eyes, mouth , eyebrows andbrown hair. There is slight discoloration from wire rust on left arm. Approx 2″ tall
Tiny dolls enjoyed perhaps their greatest popularity between 1880 and 1930 and were produced in vast quantities at that time. Most of the major doll manufacturers such as Kestner, Kammer and Reindhardt, and Simon and Halbig made them, and both quality and price could vary greatly.
