Eskimo troll Doll is a Thomas Dam troll doll from the mid-1960s and my own doll from the 60s.

Collectors refer to these as “blank foot” Dam trolls. During the peak of the 1960s troll craze, the Thomas Dam factory in Denmark used multiple assembly lines and exported heavily. While some lines stamped the soles of the feet with “Made in Denmark” or a copyright circle, many early and mid-60s runs left the feet completely blank.

There is a “is 14” Stamp on back of head: This is the factory mold cavity number. It allowed factory workers to track exactly which physical metal injection mold produced the vinyl head.

The Sunken Eyes: High-quality, deep-set, circular plastic or glass eyes are a signature differentiation of early authentic Dam trolls. Cheaper 1960s knockoffs or later 1980s/90s revival trolls (like Russ or Wishnik) used painted eyes or shallow, flat plastic lenses glued straight to the surface.

The Eskimo Costume is yellow and bone colored fur costume with knit cotton tights (tights top toes a bit discolored and can be seen when outfit is removed but not noticeable. Authentic 6-inch “blank foot” trolls frequently shipped from the factory in themed regional outfits, including the iconic faux-fur or felt-lined Eskimo parka hood and tunic.

The eskimo has lavender hair made of coarse, wool-feeling fiber which is the final piece of the puzzle confirming authentic 1960s Thomas Dam “Dam Things” troll. The hair is genuine Icelandic sheep’s wool, which Thomas Dam uniquely sourced and dyed in vibrant colors like lavender, pink, aqua, and orange. This wool has a distinctly coarse, slightly crinkly, and organic feel that synthetic fibers cannot replicate. Lavender is considered a highly desirable color among vintage troll collectors.
