Description
Prim, proper, and perpetually perturbed. Prissy Prudence Monster gazes out with three adjustable amber eyes beneath a fringe of meticulously crafted bangs, her scowling expression suggesting she’s deeply unimpressed with everything around her. Dressed in a layered gray dress with scalloped collar, polka dot bloomers peeking beneath, and polka dot hair bows tied just so, she clutches a polymer lollipop—though her sour expression suggests she’s not about to share. Those two prominent shell teeth complete her prissy, judgmental charm.
About the Piece
Part of Terri Rehg’s monochrome Gray Series, Prissy Prudence showcases the artist’s ability to imbue textile creatures with complex, relatable personalities. Featured in the 2024 Textile Show at Morris Graves Museum in Eureka, CA, this piece demonstrates Terri’s evolution from her earlier “Sis” signature. The three-eyed construction is unique within the series, and each eye can be independently positioned to create an array of disapproving glares.

About the Artist
Terri Rehg is a California-based textile artist who creates whimsical characters, monsters, and dragons using mixed media. Drawing on her years in the toy industry and time working for Disney, she explores the open-ended realm of fantasy imagination through what she calls her “laboratory of quirky.” Her work combines soft sculpture, embroidery, and sculpting techniques to create creatures that blur the line between textile art and dimensional storytelling. Originally signing her work as “Sis,” her alter self, she transitioned to her full name in 2022.
